David G. Hutchens Named President of UniSource Energy Corporation
TUCSON, Ariz.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--
David G. Hutchens has been named President of UniSource Energy
Corporation (NYSE: UNS), expanding his responsibilities as the company's
second highest ranking executive.
Paul Bonavia remains Chief Executive Officer and continues to serve as
Chairman of UniSource Energy's Board of Directors. Hutchens, formerly
the company's Executive Vice President, will now be responsible for the
generation, transmission and distribution operations of subsidiaries
Tucson Electric Power (TEP) and UniSource Energy Services (UES) along
with other business support areas.
"Dave's integrity, intellect and skills have placed him at the forefront
of a new generation of leaders who will ensure that UniSource Energy
maintains its commitments to customers, shareholders and the communities
we serve for decades to come," Bonavia said.
Hutchens, 45, served five years in the U.S. Navy and worked as an
engineer before joining TEP as an energy analyst in July 1995. He later
held management positions overseeing wholesale energy sales and, in
January 2007, was named Vice President of Wholesale Energy and UNS Gas,
an operating subsidiary of UES. He became vice president of Energy
Efficiency and Resource Planning in May 2009 and was named Executive
Vice President in March 2011.
"I'm grateful for this opportunity to expand my contributions to
UniSource Energy," Hutchens said. "I'll be working closely with Paul,
our Board of Directors and our employees across Arizona to maintain the
quality and value of our service as we expand our position as an
industry leader in renewable power and energy efficiency."
Robert A. Elliott, Lead Director of UniSource Energy's Board of
Directors, said the change stems from the company's succession planning
process. "Our Chair and our board have made it a priority to identify
and develop the individuals who will lead this company into the future,"
Elliott said. "Dave's obvious talents and many contributions have made
it clear that he's ready to take the next step toward leadership of
UniSource Energy."
UniSource Energy's primary subsidiaries include Tucson Electric Power,
which serves more than 400,000 customers in southern Arizona, and
UniSource Energy Services, provider of natural gas and electric service
for about 235,000 customers in northern and southern Arizona. For more
